Instinctively Jim felt drawn towards the stark beauty of the northern hills, and after initial explorations the lure of high ground and wild places became ever stronger. The trigger to buy a camera was a desire to record places visited and summits achieved.
The bug bit. Keen to improve on early efforts, techniques were learned by reading books and magazines, studying the work of other photographers and shooting lots of images. As a result his range widened to include urban, architectural, coastal and heritage subjects but his first love remains the landscape, in which he feels completely at home.
